It’s February.
Your reputation is on the line.
Because you promised you wouldn’t blow it (again) this year…
Valentine’s Day, friends. ‘Tis right around the corner. If you’re feeling somewhat uninspired, no worries. We’ve got a few ideas that will keep you in good graces.
Best part? Each gift idea is coming from our incredible, local businesses.
Idea No. 1: The Garden Party
There are flowers… and then there are flowers.
Sunset Serenade, Peony Reverie, Twilight Sonata. Whether it’s one of In Bloom's inspired, one-of-a-kind floral arrangements or a thoughtfully chosen plant to add a pop of happy to someone’s space, when you walk in the door of their studio, it’s impossible to walk out empty handed.
Hot tip: Remember that In Bloom is part of Self-Indulgence (mentioned below), where you can also score some wonderfully thoughtful gifts for everyone else who's stolen your heart.
Idea No. 2: The Classic Trifecta
You can’t go wrong with a classic trifecta of wine, candy, and card to cover all the bases. Even better? Our merchants put a unique spin on all three:
Via Tinto Wine Bar
Opened with the goal of offering a welcoming space for conversation and connection, Via Tinto features a curated selection of wines by the glass and bottle, craft beers, mocktails, and seasonal bites in a relaxed atmosphere.
Even better? The bar celebrates local and international wines, encourages guests to enjoy nearby takeout with their drinks, and hosts occasional music and events that make it a warm gathering spot in the heart of the city.
If you haven’t already, be sure to RSVP to Valentapas as the menu will be available on a first-come, first served basis. Rumor has it that anything Chef Sami whips up sells out… fast.
Hot Tip: Arrive as early as you can as an RSVP does not guarantee a table or specific arrival time. Seating is on a first come, first served basis.

Troutdale iCandy
The long-awaited confectionary kingdom opened this week in the old Troutdale General Store space.
This is the new location for the existing Gresham iCandy and sells… Well, candy. But you’ll also find goodies like hand-scooped, gourmet ice cream, caramel corn handmade in a traditional kettle with in all of its buttery and sweet caramel glory, and locally made chocolate from The Candy Basket in Portland.
Hot Tip: Planning on popping the question on Valentine’s Day? Don’t forget that iCandy can concoct a few sweet treats for your wedding.
Artistree NW
How can you beat a handcrafted gift from the Great Pacific Northwest?
Even better? Artistree just opened its new location at 305 E. Historic Columbia River Highway and has stocked its shelves with everything you’ve come to know and love. Like locally inspired gifts from talented artisans that you can’t find anywhere else.
Hot Tip: They sell cards, too. DO NOT forget the card!
Idea No. 3: The Soul Catcher
If you really want to do something different this year and want to stand out among the crowd, you can’t go wrong with a gift that’s got je ne sais quoi.
Self Indulgence Antiques & Interiors
As their website says, “There is something to be said about rediscovering items long forgotten…”
From really cool 19th century furniture a la France to Himalayan candles, one thing’s for sure: everything here has some soul. Bonus: Most of what they carry is also sustainable, fair trade, or Made in America.
Hot Tip: Don’t forget that In Bloom (mentioned above) is part of Self Indulgence, making it your one-stop shop for a swoon-worthy floral arrangement and small gift.
Celebrate Me Home
If lovely is what you’re looking for, you’ve found the place. Beautifully curated books and papergoods, delicate jewelry, a delicious array of gourmet goodies, and “guy stuff” that is packaged so beautifully you might as well put it on display.
